On February 20 - 21, 2008 the national best practices workshop on innovative management and program delivery methodologies was held at the Central Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education conference hall. This event was organized together with the Central Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education and DMST Project. Over 100 people participated in the worskshop representing Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (State Employment Centre), Canadian Embassy, Deputy Heads of Regional Education Departments, Managers of Regional Training and Methodology Centres, scientists from CIPPE and Institutes of Academy of Pedagogical Sciences and Principles of vocational schools.

The workshop was aimed at acquainting the participants with innovative approaches to resolve vocational education issues in Ukraine using the example of the Decentralized Management of Skills Training in Ukraine project. The following components were discussed during the best practices workshop: institutional management (business planning process, labour market analysis, involvement of community and employers to school management); new approaches in program development based on labour market needs; new methodologies of adult training and gender and social equity in skills training institutions. Canadian experts from Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology  – Elaine McNeil and Gerry Bonsal co- delivered the workshop. They gave to participants the understanding of such topics as Canadian skills training system, functioning of Institutional Advisory Boards and Program Advisory Committees and program development during the group work. At the end of the workshop the project documentary was demonstrated to all participants.
